Held at DUMBO House on Tuesday, September 12, founder and designer of Kabasia Morgan Ogryzek presented her Spring 2024 collection. Guests were treated to a short runway in view of the nighttime Manhattan Skyline before the models were presented again in a separate room for another moment to appreciate the new looks.
Ogryzek’s collection, called “Installment II: Conditions of Childhood,” is about adding maturity to youthfulness. “I think of it as a playful, almost coming-of-age story,” she said. “Some of the pieces remind me of what I, when I was a young child, imagined the adult world to be.”
With looks bursting with texture and bold colors, Ogryzek’s collection features a little bit of ambiguity by adding details that are paradoxical of childhood and adulthood. “There are some delightful surprises with the textures for sure,” she said.
To bring her vision to life, Ogryzek had to work closely with the stylists, including hair, makeup, and nails. “I think they did an absolutely incredible job and it’s so exciting,” she said. “I gave them direction, but it’s also exciting to see them interpret the clothes and find ways to make the makeup look exaggerated and youthful with the blush, but in a way that complements the clothing.” You can find more about the backstage here.
