Although mental health awareness month has passed, it’s never a bad thing to raise awareness. Mental health is a serious subject, and many more people suffer from it than you think. Fashion, makeup, and beauty brands all over have expressed their support for the cause. Here are some of the said brands that are actively lending a helping hand.

Happiness Project

Creating apparel and accessories with encouraging messages, the Happiness Project uses its profits to support its community and mental health charities. So far, the brand has donated over $250,000 to charities like NAMI, AFSP, and the Canadian Mental Health Association. In addition, 15% of profits go toward the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. With the mission of spreading happiness, the Happiness Project continues to uplift others through its message.

Maybelline New York

Combining forces with mental health experts, Maybelline New York started the Brave Together campaign. Maybelline uses its efforts worldwide to support those who struggle with mental health issues like anxiety or depression. The brand created a platform called Brave Talk to train those who want to help a loved one through their mental battles. Assisting people worldwide, Maybelline’s Brave Together has made a powerful impact on local communities.

Stay Another Day

Founded by 20-year-old Mackenzie Nelson, Stay Another Day, or SAD was formed after the creator’s personal struggles. SAD sells apparel to raise awareness of mental health and break the negative stigma that surrounds it. Hidden in most of the apparel is a “988” number, reminding those of the Suicide and Crisis Hotline. In an effort to spread her message, Mackenzie openly speaks about her own experience with mental health at schools of all ages.

Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez‘s Rare Beauty is another beauty brand focusing on self-love and mental health. Wanting everyone worldwide to access mental health care, the rare impact fund has raised millions of dollars for youth mental health services. Touching the lives of many on five continents, the rare impact fund continues to grow. The brand also offers resources and support on its website to help those going through their mental journey.

Chillhouse

Dedicated to “Finding Your Chill,” Chillhouse sells nails, baths, and body products for self-care needs. The brand offers several mental health support resources, including crisis support, Alma therapy, and mental health resources for young WOC and the LGBTQ+ community. Aiming to destigmatize support and therapy for mental health, Chillhouse donates 100% of the proceeds to their partner Sad Girls Club for Mental Health Awareness Month.

The Mayfair Group

Established in 2017, The Mayfair Group designs loungewear and clothing with uplifting messages to support those with mental health struggles. However, that’s not all they do. Partnered with MyWellbeing, The Mayfair Group offers monthly free virtual mental health support groups and other resources. The brand provides a safe space for anyone who wants to be vulnerable and work on themselves in a positive light.

Kendra Scott

Focused on self-care, Kendra Scott supports mental health through jewelry. More specifically, each purchase from the Shop for Good Collection goes toward mental health causes. In addition, the Kendra Scott site lists various forms of self-care, including a PDF coloring sheet and links to a playlist and daily affirmations.

Philosophy

Since 2014, philosophy‘s hope & grace initiative has raised millions of dollars for 79 leading mental health organizations. Making skincare and fragrance products, the brand strives to empower women and improve their mental health. Caring for women who face challenges, each philosophy product purchased goes towards financial grants for mental health prevention and treatment programs.

Even though mental health is talked about much more than it used to, there are still so many stigmas surrounding it. More than one in five people suffer from mental health issues, and it’s important to know that there are people out there who care. Remember that it’s okay to express and feel your emotions, even if you’re down. There’s always someone who will listen, and online therapy resources to utilize, like BetterHelp or 7Cups.
