NYFW: Behind the Scenes at alice + olivia’s FW25 Presentation

On February 8th, Stacey Bendet of alice + olivia presented her newest FW25 collection, “Shakespeare in Love.” Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how Shakespeare’s world was brought to life for the show.

Nails

This season’s nails were led by nail artist Miss Pop, using products from Salon Perfect. Nine different looks were used on the models. Chrome nails were used to create more jewel tones while silver nails were stoned with pearls for extra flair. Miss Pop also used a classic red brick nail, a color that is always versatile for any look. A new product, yet to be released to the public, was also used: the new Salon Perfect Celestial Charms, a set of nail charms with gold butterflies, celestial signs, and constellations. “The show is inspired by Shakespeare,” Miss Pop said. “So we brought this drama to the nails!”

Hair

Hair was led by alice + olivia hair lead veteran Matthew Curtis. This season’s Shakespeare theme was perfect for Curtis, who was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare himself. “It fits really well with me doing this hair!” he said.

There were a few looks for this show, including a braided bun with a lace bow, a alice + olivia brand staple. Hairstyles from the Edwardian-Jacobean era of English history inspired the other two looks. “In those times, they used to adorn their hair with gems and build volume,” Curtis said. “They used to put jewelry in their hair. So we used Lelet to dress the hair with gold flowers, chains, and some butterfly clips.”

Curtis was also sponsored by a new e-commerce hair tools brand, Tymo. The brand specializes in portable and cordless straighteners and curling irons. “We are a baby brand, only four years old, but we’re growing really fast and constantly innovating,” said Veronica Zhang, a spokesperson for the brand. We embrace all hair textures and all types of beauty.”

You can shop Tymo on TikTok shop, Instagram shop, Amazon, Nordstrom, and Target.

Makeup

Our beauty editor, T. Cooper was the makeup lead for this season’s show, sponsored by Bobbi Brown. The makeup was kept even for this show’s look, meaning no contouring or sculpting was done. Sparkly gold eye shadow was used on the eyes, while pink and gold highlighters were mixed on the models’ cheeks. Lashes were provided by another sponsor, Ardell, to keep the look soft and pretty. “We gave [the look] a nice, edgy, red, Gen-Z lip,” T. said. “We used brown lip liner and filled it in with a deep red lipstick and topped it off with a gloss.”

Skincare

To ensure that all of the models had clean and flawless makeup, Kate Somerville provided their ExfoliKate products to help prep the skin, specifically their Daily CleanserIntensive Exfoliating Treatment, and Glow Moisturizer. “This is going to be really great for exfoliating the skin, getting rid of any dead skin cells, but then locking it in and glowing up the skin,” said Soleil Crow, a spokesperson for Kate Somerville.

To add extra flair, the makeup team mixed gold eye shadow with the ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer on the models’ bodies, giving them a bronzy sheen and adding an ethereal element to their looks.
