A Wintry Weekend With The Makeup Shop NYC

Despite snowstorms and harsh weather this past weekend in NYC, The Makeup Show pushed through. Welcoming over 1,500 attendees, its annual holiday pop-up at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea buzzed with artistry and lively energy.

From shopping to networking, the event was a perfect platform for education. In addition to its traditional seminar stage, there were four Creative Studio Sessions, another demo stage, and a new Bridal Masterclass taught in Spanish by Francis Star. An array of partners appeared, including makeup, skincare, haircare, jewelry, candles, and wellness brands. Exhibitors included Danessa Myricks Beauty, Pat McGrath Labs, Bad Habits New York, Ambroise, IXYA, Jenna-Monet Beauty, Seis Cosmetics, and Touchstone Crystal.

From celebrity artists and beauty writers to buyers and drag artists, the event brought professionals and enthusiasts together across the industry. After a day of discovery, guests got to attend The Makeup Shop’s first-ever Creatives’ Holiday Mixer, sponsored by Alcone Company. Here, drag bingo, karaoke, and conversations took place along the bar.

“It is so vital to our industry that events like this continue to happen,” one artist said to show owner Shelly Taggar, “we need spaces that serve the entire community, not just those at the top.”

As this year comes to a close, we begin looking ahead to the next. In 2026, The Makeup Shop will return May 3-4 with new programming, pre-show events, and an expanded brand lineup. Early Bird registration runs now through December 31st — click here to see more!
