New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027 is here, and while most people only tune in for the Tommy Hilfigers or Calvin Kleins of the world, we are not most people. Instead, we present five up-and-comers you should definitely keep in your repertoire before New York Fashion Week.
Diotima
Founded in 2021 by Jamaican designer Rachel Scott, Diotima lives at the intersection of Italian construction and Caribbean culture. The luxury brand, based in both Jamaica and New York, aims to present a seductive yet grounded view of Caribbean style. Its most recent collection plays heavily with sculptural piping, hand-sewn crystal embellishments, and organza intarsia made in collaboration with the Estate of Wifredo Lam. Diotima presents its new collection on the runway September 14 at 4 PM.
Patrick Taylor
Patrick Taylor is all about skis and the high seas, while boasting the phrase, “The Jumper You Stole From Your Dad.” This British brand based in New York is bright, sporty, and playfully reminiscent of Taylor’s childhood vacations to the French Alps. Patrick Taylor is a 2025 Fashion Trust U.S. Graduate Winner and will hit the runway Thursday, September 10 at 5 PM.
Aisling Camps
Aisling Camps is a mechanical engineer turned fashion designer and uses that same precision and sustainability mindset when crafting her knitwear. Each piece is either handmade in her Brooklyn studio or outsourced to her family-run factory in Italy, where her yarns are also sourced. Catch Aisling Camps on the runway September 14 at 9 AM.
Hikari No Yami by Jakarie Whitaker
Hikari No Yami draws on Japanese philosophy and the African American diaspora, aiming to turn philosophy into wearable form. This avant-garde fashion house releases work in “chapters” as opposed to seasons, resulting in collections with names such as “Parasite,” “In Praise of Shadows,” and “The Turn of the Screw.” Pieces are deconstructed, slashed, and upcycled, every decision a rejection of conformity. Hikari No Yami is available by appointment/extended presentation on September 12 from 5 PM- 8 PM.
Andrew Curwen
Andrew Curwen is an emerging designer based in New York and has already dressed Lady Gaga, Slayyyter, Charli XCX, and Doechii. His work presents themes of romantic fatalism and the intimacy of darkness, drawing heavily from the Victorian gothic era. His most recent collection, “Your Last Breath Belongs to Me,” is rooted in hope and sensuality. Look out for his new collection “Utopie Désespérée” this week.
