LUMAS Art Gallery held its NFT in a Box launch event on Thursday, September 14. The event featured beer and chocolate tasting from sponsors Brown Girl’s Brew and Sol Cacao and an NFT panel and Q&A with 3D artist Jacob Stillman, moderated by Senior Art Consultant Gisela Viera and Art Consultant Maxine Espanol.
LUMAS’ new NFT in a Box collection brings your favorite digital art to life with physical screens you can display anywhere. Any art piece you buy from the LUMAS collection will exist both in your crypto wallet and your home, making it the perfect option for digital art and NFT lovers alike.
Viera, Stillman, and Espanol used the first part of the panel to explain the value and purpose of NFT art. Similar to owning a one-of-a-kind, original painting, any NFT in a Box art piece you purchase comes with a certificate of authenticity proving your ownership.
The panel continued with artist Jacob Stillman discussing his work and inspirations. His pieces “midday dreams” and “synapses” are available for purchase at the gallery. Stillman, who previously worked as a graphic designer, turned his passion into a career by teaching himself digital art by watching YouTube tutorials.
“My parents really were supportive, which I was really lucky to have. There were moments where I think they were a little worried,” said Stillman.
When it comes to “midday dreams,” Stillman played a lot with color to get himself out of a funk. For “synapses” he went for a dreamlike aesthetic by combining nature and mysticism.
“I think I rely a lot on emotion or past memories I would say. It can be similar to any creative field. Sometimes it’s like a fire, you know exactly what you’re going to make, and I sit down and I just don’t do anything until it’s done.”
LUMAS’ event also featured sponsors Brown Girl’s Brew and Sol Cacao. Both companies offered free tastings of their products to guests. Christina Thomas, founder of Brown Girl’s Brew, found inspiration in her mother’s bakery for her eccentric beer flavors, including Carrot Cake Amber Ale and Lemon Pound Cake Lager.
As for Sol Cacao, the company was founded by three brothers: Dominic, Nicholas, and Daniel Maloney. Raised in the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, the brothers were inspired by the cacao trees that surrounded them growing up. Their chocolate is made with all-natural ingredients that elevate the world of chocolate.
