A press day walkthrough Mavi Jeans’ Spring/Summer ‘24 collection with Ikponmwosa.
For Spring/Summer 2024 Mavi is continuing their valiant sustainability efforts, working towards the goal of having all items under their “All Blue” umbrella by 2030. The All Blue collection uses only organic recycled or sustainable fiber blend materials. It is some of the most sustainable denim out there.
First up we have their recycled linen pieces for SS24, these are going to be one of the first of their kind in the market, recycled linen is relatively new and there will be both pants and vests which will be lighter, more comfortable, and have a little stretch.
Next, we have the No-Dye Cotton collection, which is the most sustainable way for cotton garments to be made as there’s no additional processing or huge water use required when the dye is excluded. These pieces are all natural hues that reflect the actual color of the recycled cotton so there will be some gorgeous variation from piece to piece giving an element of uniqueness.
The Well Blue collection is a mix of bamboo and recycled cotton, which is super breathable and lightweight. It’s very chic and has a relaxed casual look. This fabric innovation is all about moving forward from nature for Spring 2024.
Featured again for Spring/Summer 2024 is Mavi’s ongoing collaboration with Tencel; using their refiber technology. They use cotton and wood chips, which are made into pulp and reworked into fibers for a no-waste biodegradable product.
Looking at the key fashion pieces for SS24 we see that Mavi is bringing back florals. They are featured on long skirts, pants, and cropped vests. Long denim skirts have been making their comeback recently and we’re seeing more for Spring next year.
The Feather Blue collection is Mavi’s slimmer silhouette, this denim has more of a stretch and comes in more fitted shapes which are retained over time and the give in the fabric makes for a comfortable, slender look. This collection includes fabrics that include Tencel, and some pieces have the currently trendy flared bottoms.
Moving on, Mavi has a fresh look on their cargo and sportswear offerings for SS24. There’s a new parachute shape for the cargo pants, which are currently on trend and have a super comfortable fit. In sportswear, we’re seeing all the essentials – tees, tank tops, and a wide variety of shirts including the bestselling button-downs.
Finally, of course for Spring there’s a range of shorts. Most are high-waisted, but Mavi will launch bigger ranges of lengths for Spring 24, with more of the Bermuda-style cut than short shorts.
Founder Ikponmwosa’s top styles: “Everything is so chic, I love the cropped button-down shirt and I like the longer shorts which are definitely on trend.”
