Natty Belle, a fashion designer devoted to celebrating and empowering Black femininity, made a bold statement at New York Fashion Week with her Spring/Summer 2026 collection, “Resurrecting Black Femme Sovereignty.” The collection aims to honor and amplify the voices, experiences, and creativity of Black women, blending fashion with a larger cultural narrative.
Hosted at a stunning Central Park location, Summit Hill provided the perfect backdrop for a show that invited the community to connect with not only the designs but the stories of the people wearing them. Lush, comforting hues—sage green, olive, gold, and velvety oranges—complemented the natural surroundings, creating a harmonious marriage between fashion and environment.
The models were more than canvases for the clothing; each shared their personal journeys, inspirations, and how they navigate the intersection of love, passion, and change. Draped fabrics sculpted intentional and daring forms while maintaining an essence of matriarchal eloquence, celebrating strength, elegance, and presence.

At a second location, Activist Angela Davis addressed the audience before the dinner, speaking on the intersection of queer liberation and Black liberation, as well as the rise of AI. She discussed the challenges and opportunities that come with new technologies and how we can move forward while staying true to creativity, self-expression, and the values we hold dear.
Following her remarks, Natty Belle hosted a dinner that radiated joy and familiar energy. Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated meal, fried chicken, collard greens, rice, cornbread, and more, while reflecting on the ideas Davis shared.

Ultimately, Natty Belle’s Spring/Summer 2026 show was more than a fashion collection—it was a moment in time. Through every color, drape, and conversation, the brand created an experience that celebrated Black femme power, creativity, and the limitless possibilities of the future.
