It’s Women’s History Month, which is a great time to mix fashion with female empowerment. Many clothing brands actively participate in uplifting women around the world. These five fashion brands strive for women’s empowerment more than apparel.
Athleta
Athleta makes active wear through movement and strength to empower and boost women’s confidence. In partnership with the Women’s Sports Foundation, Athleta created The Power of She Fund. Joined by powerful female athletes from Simone Biles to Lexie Hull, this ongoing grant program supports organizations that surround empowerment for women and girls.
Meshki
With the mission of making women feel confident in their clothing, Meshki‘s style is about self-expression. Through campaigns like their International Women’s Day and the “Future is Female” campaign, Meshki designs pieces that celebrate feminine trends. From tweed suits to satin styles, the main goal is to make women feel fierce and powerful in what they wear.
Avec Les Filles
Back in 2019, Avec Les Filles created a foundation with the sole purpose of inspiring women. Each year, the fashion brand chooses a non-profit to which it will donate a portion of its sales. This year, Project Glimmer was chosen due to the positive impact the organization has had on over one million teenage girls and women across the United States. Through this collaboration, girls who live in poverty or distress will get support to help them build a better future.
Good American
Co-founded by Khloé Kardashian and Emma Grede, Good American creates inclusive sizing and fits to embrace all women’s bodies. Mainly denim-focused, the clothing brand aims to accommodate diverse body types. Additionally, its “Good Inc” program scouts emerging talent to celebrate women’s inclusivity through mentorship and exposure.
The Social Outfit
Based in Australia, The Social Outfit offers women more than fashion. From sewing to retail training, the fashion label supports migrant and refugee women by jumpstarting their careers in Australia. Through these programs, empowerment is spread “from the women who make them to the women who wear them.”
Although more brands support female empowerment, these five brands show that fashion is more than just wearing clothing. It is a form of self-expression, confidence, and empowerment. Wear what makes you feel confident and spread that empowerment!
XOXO,
Your Fashion Bestie
