On Wednesday, February 14, founder and designer Frederick Anderson debuted his Fall/Winter 2024 collection at the Prince George Ballroom in Flatiron, Manhattan. Entitled, “Happiness in the Time of the Blues,” Anderson combined elements of his Southern upbringing with the unique history of country and blues music.

Before the creation of this collection, Anderson discovered the true history behind country music. It turns out, country music, a traditionally White genre of American music, has origins in the Blues, a traditionally Black art form. “It’s two worlds and cultures intertwined and similar, but born in different interpretations of the same history,” Anderson said in his designer statement. With this in mind, Anderson’s collection is a recreation of those different perspectives combined to create a “musical alliance” with his designs.
