The city that never sleeps is notorious for its flamboyant events. People from around the world travel to New York City to see their favorite artists or venture for a spectacular time. Dancing the night away with friends at zesty concerts can be so much fun, it can even become one of the best nights of your life! However, we do not deny these events can get pretty pricey.
Thankfully, not everything in the Big Apple costs an arm and a leg. Many would be delighted to know several music events in the city are free, so you can let loose with your group without paying a pretty penny. Check out these shows that are happening in June.
SummerStage: Kim Gordon
Are you a person who likes various types of music? Join the SummerStage fun at the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park! Here, you’ll enjoy three musical acts. Jam out to Kim Gordon, a rock musician with distinct songs to headbang to. Then, groove to buzzing jazz music from the band Sun Ra Arkestra. You can have a whole new appreciation of the sound of natural instruments in person. Slauson Malone 1, an indie artist, will also play his tunes at the SummerStage. Join the event on June 13 from 6-10 PM.
Picnic Performances: Emerging Music Festival
Bryant Park is hosting “Picnic Performances,” which are free outdoor events anyone can attend between May and September. If you enjoy indie artists and like a good mix of rock and folk music, you will want to attend the Emerging Music Festival. It’s a two-day music event featuring upcoming artists in the scene, including Chanel Beads, Horsegirl, Greg Mendez, and more. Enjoy and discover new music on the lawn with your friends for a spectacular night out. Head over to the midtown Manhattan park from June 28-29. Their Friday event happens from 7-10 PM, and the following night goes from 5-10 PM.
Summer Concerts Series: Chayce Beckham
Are you fond of country music? Attend the Summer Concerts Series at the Wells Fargo Stage to watch Chayce Beckham perform live. Chayce’s claim to fame began in 2021 when he won season 19 of American Idol. Since then, he has been writing music and playing his heartfelt songs nationwide. If you’d like to watch Chayce perform live, June 19th from 6-8 PM will be your chance to sing along with him and the people you love.
SummerStage: THE AUSSIE BBQ
Discover new artists from the land down under at the Aussie BBQ at Central Park on June 15th from 4-10 PM. With six different bands and artists, you’ll be listening to music genres like alternative rock, pop, and electronic. Don’t miss out on bands like Jebediah and Northeast Party House for an entertaining time on your own or with your buddies.
Take a break from your everyday routine by attending one of these free events in the city. Releasing yourself from the stresses of the daily grind, at least occasionally, is beneficial for your mental and emotional health. Whether you’re heading on a solo adventure or taking your mates to join the fun, have a blast attending these free festivals this summer!
