One of the most delicious Italian spots in Manhattan, and most instagrammable, Gelso & Grand, is high up on our list of recommendations for almost any occasion. If you’re feeling the January blues, and are giving dry January a go this year, Gelso & Grand can serve that date night feel without the hangover.
With an industrial-chic yet cozy interior, you can escape those cold winter nights and hop onto a stool at the bar where Gelso’s small, spirit-free cocktail menu will hit the spot. Our favorites are the Peach and Serrano, and the aptly named Phony Negroni.
If you don’t fancy leaving the sofa however, read on for a recipe to make at home…
Peach and Serrano (two servings)
- 2 peaches
- ½ Serrano chilli (or ½ Jalapeño for a little less spice)
- 1 lime
- 400ml water
- 1 teaspoon of agave nectar or maple syrup
- Ice – enough to fill one third of your glass
- Optional – sea salt
Add the peaches (peeled), chilli, lime juice and water to a blender until smooth, pour over the ice and stir through the agave or maple syrup. Garnish with sea salt, a slice of peach and a slice of chilli if you dare.
