Renowned fashion school IFA Paris renewed their collaboration with Aqua Art Miami, an art fair part of Miami Art Week. This year, the school created a three-part fashion show with Australian artist Jase King.
IFA Paris is an international fashion school with locations in Paris, Istanbul, and Shanghai. They specialize in teaching a combination of French craftsmanship and a global approach to fashion. Over a thousand students of 50 different nationalities are a part of the school, where they can study fashion design, business, technology, and sustainability.
Jase King is an Australian artist who explores social issues through art. Inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, King has focused on creating masks that explore the concept of identity. These masks often reflect his inner struggles.
The theme of this year’s fashion show is called, “Deconstructing Identity.” This theme is shown in three acts. On December 7, the show illustrates the resilience of human beings in the face of adversity. On December 8, the show emphasizes the importance of diversity and erasing borders that separate us. Lastly, on December 9, the show gives the message of dismantling discrimination and systemic barriers.
These shows feature 36 designs created by IFA students along with masks from Jase King.
