Right in the middle of SoHo in New York City sits the only beauty workshop from Chanel, called Atelier Beauté Chanel. In this gorgeous space, access to a variety of Chanel’s beauty products, which includes skincare and perfumes, are complimentary with no appointment necessary. This is the perfect place to try out new items before committing to a purchase! The Atelier is divided into different sections, so here is how to navigate your way through Chanel’s free beauty workshop.
Cleanse
The first station you see when you walk in is the cleanse station. The Atelier prides themselves on their priority to stay hygienic and clean first, so you’re asked to wash your hands before doing anything. In the cleanse space you can wash your hands, cleanse your face, and remove your makeup using Chanel products before wiping yourself off with a plush towel. There are even several options of cleansing products to choose from. Like all the other stations afterwards, there are several different kinds of disposable cotton pads, q-tips, and more for your use.
Care
Directly behind the cleanse section is the care station. This is where you can experiment with Chanel skincare products. The Atelier has carefully curated a few select basics of the Chanel skincare line to get you started. This is the place to experiment, test out new products, and learn more about Chanel’s top-tier formulas.
Skin Enhancers
Behind the cleanse and care stations are the skin enhancers. These are where you can find your perfect Chanel foundation shade. Each little station within the skin enhancer section has their own mirror and several brushes and sponges to choose from and dispose of, not to mention a pullout drawer of every shade of Chanel foundations, primers, concealers, and powders. You can even try Chanel’s unique water-based tints! It is important to note that Chanel’s foundation range is quite small, and as a person of Asian descent, my foundation shade was on the dark end of Chanel’s spectrum.
Face Definers
Directly to the right of the skin enhancers station are the face definers. These include Chanel highlighters, contours, bronzers, blushes, and more. Each station has their own selection of high-quality makeup brushes that can be placed in a container for the Atelier to properly clean before its next use by another customer. Hygiene is of utmost priority in this space, and the staff make sure it all takes place seamlessly.
Eye Definers
Past the face definers on the same wall sit the eye definers. This station includes all the go-to eye products that Chanel has to offer: eye shadow palettes, eyebrow pencils, eyebrow gels, eyeliners, mascaras, and more. Once again, you can choose between a variety of brushes and products that will be thoroughly cleaned after your use in order to prevent the spread of germs in the Atelier.
Lip Color
The Lip Color station sits at the very end of the Atelier space. Here, you can browse hundreds of shades in a variety of matte, satin, or shine applications. A staff member sits behind the counter to assist you, where they provide you with your requested shade on a disposable lip applicator.
SoHo’s Favorites
In the middle of the Atelier space is a section for “SoHo’s Favorites,” which are the products that members of the community are currently loving. At this station you will find a mirror and several drawers of the current Chanel beauty favorites and new releases to try out.
Other Services
In addition to enjoying Atelier Beauté Chanel’s complimentary access to many of Chanel’s beauty products, you can also book appointments to get more curated services. There are four makeup services to choose from: a full look makeup application, a focused makeup application, a makeup lesson, and a focused makeup lesson. You can also book a skincare consultation, where you will meet with a certified expert and develop a basic skincare routine using Chanel products before going home with plenty of samples to test out this routine.
There are also several group experiences to choose from. One of the most popular is the fragrance discovery, where you and a group can explore another section of the Atelier, Atelier Parfum Chanel. Here your group can test the fragrances in the Parfum room without any label or bias and even take home three of your favorite scents. The Atelier also offers group makeup activities, such as a makeup happy hour and a master class.
