For designer Hiroaki Sueyasu, fashion is about more than just clothing. Drawing inspiration from personal memories and experiences is how the designer sparks his artistic visions by reminiscing on the late 90s and early 2000s of Tokyo. This was a time when individuality, rebellion, and culture redefined fashion in the streets of Harajuku.
Shaping KIDILL‘s Fall/Winter 2025 Collection is an event in Sueyasu’s life that deeply impacted him. The core of this experience is a collaboration with the iconic Harajuku shop “A STORE ROBOT.” Ever since its foundation in 1942, this legendary space has embodied the essence of punk culture through a close relationship with Vivienne Westwood and its unwavering belief in authenticity. Sharing the same ideals as Sueyasu, the partnership explored what it means to be “real” in modern society. This shared conviction within the collaboration brings timeless authenticity to KIDILL’S latest collection while boldly steering toward the future.
Beyond Harajuku are the designer’s experiences from his time in London. Elements of rave and punk are seen through bright accents, contrasting stitch details, and metallic coatings. Adding to the London-Tokyo dynamic is the notable collaboration with L.A. designer Brett Westfall. Here, Suesyasu draws inspiration from memories, nature, society, and whimsical illustrations like strawberries, Snoopy, and skaters.
Each influence seamlessly blends with padded coats, chinos, MA-1 jackets, “Kids Love Gate” shoes, and other pieces in the collection. This crafty aesthetic reimagines moments of nostalgia to form a collection that questions the authenticity of the style. Let us know what you think of the KIDILL FW25 Collection shown below!
