Designer Kobi Halperin made his New York Fashion Week debut on Friday with his collection “Wonders of Salt,” showcasing his detailed and feminine designs made for women who “celebrate getting dressed every day.”
Born and raised in Israel, his designs are deeply inspired by his Eastern European heritage. His looks capture the essence of sleek, modern femininity while providing a sense of home with handcrafted patterns and embellishments.
Halperin was brimming with anticipation before his debut, sharing in an Instagram video the day before the show: “I am so overwhelmed and so excited. I can’t keep this excitement just for myself, so now I look like a crazy man walking on the streets and talking, but I need to share this excitement with all of you.”
When it comes to Halperin’s latest collection, he was inspired by artist Sigalit Landau’s exhibition “The Burning Sea,” where items were soaked in the Dead Sea for long periods of time, creating dynamic and sparkly transformations. His use of contrast in both color and material proved there was no telling what was coming next. The show opened with black monochrome designs, each unique with their dazzling fabrics, sheer detailing, and intricate adornments.
The show continued with striking displays of blazers, evening wear, and gowns in teals, greens, and yellows. Combined with his use of florals in both color and pattern, he created a youthful yet sophisticated Spring/Summer collection. His garments are made for women who shine, whether they’re in the office, out on the town, and everywhere in between.
If life imitates art, Kobi Halperin truly encapsulates the life of a modern woman. Click here to learn more about the man behind the talent, and how his mind works when it comes to his designs.
