Mabel Martinez has many job descriptions. As a journalist, Mabel has worked the celebrity, entertainment, and fashion beat at well-known publications such as People, Glamour, and more. Now, her career has transitioned to social media as the Senior Social Media and Influencer Manager at Lâncome. How has this multifaceted lady become the ultimate social media expert?

Mabel Martinez

A Bronx native, Mabel attended high school in Manhattan before pursuing a journalism degree in college. After interning at People Magazine during her undergrad years, she continued to work there full-time, covering red carpets, beauty, fashion, and celebrities. A couple of years later, she wrote for Glam Belleza Latina, the beauty insert within Glamour Magazine curated specifically for the Latinx community.

Mabel first transitioned to social media while working for Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that provides women with resources and networks for economic independence. The rest is history, and she began her career in social media, focusing on beauty. “I use a lot of my skills that I’ve learned in journalism and media arts in my career now,” she said. “So it was just a perfect match.”

Mabel is now a triple threat on social media. Through her job at Lâncome, she manages influencer campaigns and is an influencer and content creator herself. “A lot of what I do is for fun,” she said. “I love creating content for myself. I love speaking about products that are dear to my heart.”

Of course, Mabel offered her expertise as a social media maven and content creator and gave XOXO some travel tips and her favorite products. Here’s what she had to say:

Hydration

Tower 28 SOS Rescue Spray

Hydration is key, especially when you’re traveling! To help revitalize the skin, Mabel recommends Tower 28‘s SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray. “Take that with you on the plane,” she said. “Spray it because that will keep your skin refresh and it won’t clog your pores.”

Sunscreen

Lâncome UV Expert Defense SPF 50+ Primer & Moisturizer

You can’t go on a trip without sun protection, so Mabel loves the Lâncome UV Expert Defense SPF 50 Primer and Moisturizer. This produce is a 3-in-1, making it easy to pack and saving precious space in your suitcase. “It goes on really nicely, your skin will look glowing,” she said.

Makeup

Lâncome Idôle Tint Liquid Eyeshadow & Eyeliner

When traveling, less is more, so Mabel recommends Lâncome’s Idôle Tint Liquid Eyeshadow and Eyeliners. Perfect for eyelids, eyeliner, cheeks, and more, these little tubes of product are great if you need something on the go. “I’m not going to say this just because I work there, but I really genuinely love this product,” Mabel said.

Hair

Kérastase Laque Couture Hair Spray

Haircare is especially important on vacation, particularly when you’re going to a place with a different climate. That’s why Mabel recommends the Kérastase Laque Contour Hair Spray. “I use that when I blow out my hair,” she said. “I do my curls, I spray that on, and then my hair is perfect.”
