Memorial Day is the day that we, as Americans, come together to honor the people who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day. One of those freedoms is the liberty to dress how we please. So, without further ado, here are some themes and ideas to help you walk the runway for a very special day.
Patriotic

What better way to honor fallen soldiers than to proudly represent the country they sacrificed for? You don’t have to wait until the Fourth of July to take pride in your country. So, for this Memorial Day, consider showing off the American flag, or even just the colors that make it up.
Camouflage

Another great way to honor our fallen heroes is to don their primary design. Although pop culture may use it as a cool getup, soldiers utilize it as a survival tactic, better ensuring, as the name suggests, that they blend in with their surroundings. Considering that most people don’t wear camouflage regularly, this would be a great way to add a bit of style to your outfit.
Dainty

If you want to keep things simple and dress a little softer, consider trying a more dainty look. This is especially great if you’re going to a picnic or a barbecue. Perhaps a gingham, floral, or striped dress to catch the eyes of those around you. And if dresses aren’t your style, opt for a full outfit that achieves the same effect, such as an off-shoulder embroidered top paired with light-colored pants.
Vintage

We all have a certain past era we favor and wish that we could live in. And being that war is a tale as old as time, every historical era has experienced it in one way or another. So, within reason, make Memorial Day a little more interesting by dressing in a style from the past, and living out a nice little fantasy for a day.
Springwear

If none of the previous styles appeal to you, you can always opt for a safe, standard spring look. Maybe a solid-colored T-shirt dress or a beautiful blouse with light blue jeans. This time of year is perfect for sandals, paired with some light yet unique accessories. From dark shades and straw hats to dangling earrings and canvas tote bags, the possibilities are endless.
Memorial Day is a day that many hearts tend to skip, often missing the hype that other holidays enjoy. People typically know and acknowledge what the day is for, then go about their day, or a day off, as any other. I hope you make this Memorial Day special for you and your loved ones, and hold a great sense of gratitude for the ones who can’t see the results of their sacrifice.
