Oasis Face Bar is located in south Miami and unlike lots of spas, they take walk-ins. Oasis kindly invited us to a 30-minute Hydrafacial treatment with Alejandra.
Before we start we’re offered water to hydrate and have a short consultation with the therapist to talk about skin type and any sensitivities or areas for improvement. Then we’re invited to lay back in a comfortable chair in a light, relaxing room.
The first step is cleansing the skin with a sensitive wipe to remove any makeup, product surface sweat, and dirt.
Step two is dermaplaning. Alejandra tells us this is a crucial step for the facial results as it gets rid of dead skin cells that are too stubborn to be removed by cleansing, and means that the skin is clean and ready to absorb the products used during the treatment.
Step three is the use of a suction exfoliator, this is another cleanse of the skin and works like microdermabrasion, making the skin is more receptive to the extraction step that comes next.
The extraction (step four) doesn’t hurt at all and feels more like a massage. This is in part due to the prep work on the skin which means the skin is relaxed and clear for manipulation, but also due to the suction mechanism used in this facial technique which means less pinching for the skin.
Step five is about applying products to our gorgeously cleansed skin. A vitamin C booster to give a nice supplement to the skin, boosting elasticity and collagen production, and reducing fine lines. This is delivered by the suction pen but then massaged in by hand.
Lastly, the final step (six) is a hydrating antioxidant serum which seals everything in and the skin looks glowy and plump.
