Michael DePaulo FW’25

Michael DePaulo is a designer most notable for his intricate evening wear designs, which are composed of embroidery and beading. Along with evening wear, DePaulo creates bridal gowns and haute couture designs that go through a series of fittings. Most recently, the designer held a presentation on February 8th for his upcoming FW’25 collection “Mystical Garden.” Taking place at the Loft Gardens in the heart of Rockefeller Center, the fairytale theme shined through.

Undoubtedly, hints of a garden everywhere, from the use of green and pink fabrics, floral patterns and appliques, to vines flowing freely from the hemlines of dresses. Exaggerated dress silhouettes and layered skirts were frequent throughout the collection. With large silhouettes in mind, the garments could symbolize growth, just like nature is constantly growing, sprouting, and evolving, like the layered garments. At the same time, black pieces featuring lace and sequin added a sense of mystery. To demonstrate that theme, a gothic tulle ball gown and black sequin jumpsuit featured bold patterns. Glamour truly meets nature with these pieces, leaving the audience to ponder the endless beauty gardens hold.

The first standout piece was a floor-length light pink dress with a flowy skirt and bubble trim. Additional details included a black belt and sheer hot pink embroidered sleeves. Another impressive piece was a dramatic chartreuse green cape dress with a train that was impossible to look away from.
