NYFW Glam: Subtle Sophistication at Nidra Devi

On the opening night of New York Fashion Week, I decided to check out the Nidra Devi presentation. The fashion event was followed by a dinner at NeueHouse Madison Square. The creative force behind the stunning evening wear line is Keren Craig, formerly Co-Founder and Creative Director of Marchesa.

The label is named after Nidra Devi, the Hindu goddess of sleep. The whimsical pieces are intentionally dreamy and meant to be worn for all the magical occasions that happen between dawn and dusk. Her attention to detail and eye for elegance was palpable throughout every aspect of the presentation. Indian craftsmanship and fine hand details honor the practice of time and touch. Each piece is a tribute to the notion that clothing holds the infinite potential to be a celebration of one’s unique identity. But, I am the Beauty Editor, so let’s get into the glam.

The hair and makeup can be described in one word…chic. It was simple, beautiful, timeless glam, that always works when trying to pull off an elegant look. All of the models were runway-ready, and so gorgeous!

The majority of the models were styled in super sleek low chignons, with deep side parts, and swoop bangs. The models with natural hair (which I was elated to see), had their gorgeous, curly Afros coiffed to perfection.

The makeup was simple and stunning! There was not a lot of color used, but the makeup still made an impact. There was special attention paid to special details. The models all had hydrated, supple-looking skin; the dewy finish gave a warm, healthy glow. Their cheekbones and jawlines were expertly sculpted without overly made-up. The lashes were extended on the top and bottom with only mascara, and the chef’s kiss was the glossy, pink, nude lip.

Overall, it was a beautiful presentation with hair and makeup that complimented the collection perfectly. I can’t wait to see what Nidra Devi has up their sleeve for next season.

XOXO,
