As we step into Women’s History Month, why not prioritize your hair care and put an end to hair loss? Whether it’s stress, age, coloring, products, or heat damaging your hair, I’ve discovered and tested a healthy, easy, and effective solution!
This trend has gone viral on TikTok due to its simplicity and numerous benefits. Not only does it promise to curb hair loss, foster growth, and fortify strands, but it also boasts the ability to amplify volume, combat excessive oiliness, alleviate scalp itchiness, and impart a silky, glossy texture. Additionally, it serves as a protective shield against the detrimental effects of heat, pollution, and UV damage.
The Science Behind It:
Employed for centuries, rosemary, a medicinal plant, has effectively addressed diverse health issues, from muscle and menstrual pain to respiratory problems and hair loss, showcasing its multifaceted advantages. Beyond its traditional uses, rosemary offers benefits that include enhancing memory/concentration, aiding digestion, fortifying the immune and circulatory systems, and stimulating hair growth.
Supported by numerous sources, rosemary water is proven to contain distinctive elements such as tannins, saponins, alkaloids, and flavonoids. Tannins have antioxidant properties for protection. Saponins a natural cleanser for the hair, possess antimicrobial properties. Alkaloids serve as protective and anti-inflammatory agents, and flavonoids possess antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antiviral properties, protecting against toxins and stressors. Therefore, rosemary water, rich in growth-boosting antioxidants, will effectively curb scalp inflammation—a key contributor to hair loss. Utilizing rosemary water will collectively promote scalp health and hair strength, favorizing volume.
Regardless of your hair type—whether thin, thick, straight, wavy, or naturally curly—many individuals have reported positive outcomes. Rosemary water will enhance natural texture; for example, for our curl girlies it leaves waves more defined, smoother, and silkier.
The Recipe:
- – Buy fresh organic rosemary and a spray bottle.
- – Clean 3-4 branches of rosemary and boil them in 4/5 cups of distilled water (free of impurities) for 15 to 20 minutes.
- – Let it rest in a glass bottle before transferring it to a plastic spray bottle to avoid (plastic) chemical contamination.
- – Store it in the fridge and it’s ready for use for one to two weeks. After each use, return it to the fridge for optimal storage.
The Practice:
Simply spray the rosemary water on your scalp by section at least once a day, for at least a week, to see minimal results. Your first shampoo will confirm its effectiveness. Consider applying it morning and night (or at least one of these times), employing a 3-5-minute massage for optimal penetration and ideally using a scalp massaging brush such as this one from Amazon. This brush can be purchased here.
TIP: If you’re in a morning rush and the water doesn’t dry quickly enough, it’s okay to blow dry your hair after the 5 minutes of massaging and spraying; the scalp still had time to absorb the concoction.
The Results:
I personally started this routine at the beginning of November, and the results were quick. I noticed a reduction in hair loss, especially during shampoos/brushing. Within 10 days, the length of my baby hair had doubled. By the end of the first month, I experienced more volume, softer hair, and those around me noticed the improvement, describing my hair as silkier, softer, and healthier, with visible changes in previously ‘bald spots’.
CAUTION: May change hair color. People often use it as a natural hair dye to make their hair darker and enhance golden tones. For blondes, it may turn it into a darker, more golden shade.
But while individual results may vary, my experience has been incredibly positive, and I plan to keep it up. It’s worth noting that six month of treatment is recommended for visible results.
So, I can only hope that this experience will work for you as well as it did for me.
