SAVE’s Champions of Equality Gala

Since 1993, SAVE has been dedicated to protecting and advocating for people of all gender identities and sexual orientations. Most recently, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, the organization hosted its annual Champions of Equality Gala at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. The event celebrated visionary leaders who are driving progress for LGBTQ+ equality in South Florida and beyond.

The evening began with a cocktail reception by Carmen Carrera that flowed into an engaging program led by activist and emcee Josue Santiago. Joined by elected officials and changemakers, guests enjoyed a night of celebration that also inspired the next generation of advocates.

This year’s honorees hold a special place in the community, consistently serving as dedicated allies for the LGBTQ+ community. Among them were Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Congressman Chris Pappas, entertainer Latrice Royale, and longtime advocate Rosemary Wilder. As previously mentioned, the night was hosted by Josue Santiago and featured an energetic performance by Maya Azucena.

Even for those who were not in attendance, the cause behind the gala remains deeply inspiring. Explore more @savelgbt!
