For Her CBS Saturday Morning Performance
In addition to being XOXO’s beauty editor, I am also a working hairstylist (a girl’s gotta pay rent). I had the distinct pleasure of styling country music singer, Brittney Spencer, for her CBS Saturday Morning show performance. I was honored that the rising star trusted me to handle her tresses, so, of course, I had to do my best. This is why I broke out my holy-grail Balmain hair products. I wanted to ensure that Brittney‘s curls were camera-ready. Being able to bring out her natural beauty and infuse her personality into her signature ringlets was a job that I did not take lightly, and the Balmain hair products made the process seamless.
From the moment I walked into Brittney’s hotel room, I could feel her great energy and genuine excitement about this performance. As an African-American woman from Baltimore making a name for herself in the country genre, this opportunity was huge! Brittney was there to represent the versatility of how country music could be approached. That immediately made me want to do the best job possible for her, I wanted her to feel like the superstar she is. We discussed her hair do’s and don’ts, and I got cracking.
I started by prepping her hair with Balmain Protection Spray to protect her hair from heat styling. Next, I sprayed Balmain Session Spray Medium to give the hair memory and brushed it through to distribute the product evenly. I then curled the hair with a 3/4-inch iron and a 5/8-inch iron. I used different sizes to give the hair more movement, and I curled the hair in alternating directions to give her hair a natural, free-flowing appearance. I gently broke up the curls with an extra tooth comb and finished by misting Balmain Silk Perfume for luster.
The CBS Saturday Morning platform reaches a broad and diverse audience, so it was important for Brittney to feel confident and empowered when stepping into the spotlight. While keeping an eye on her locks in the green room, I also got to enjoy her amazing performance. I must say that I was blown away! She looked great but sounded even better. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Miss Brittney Spencer, and I am beyond grateful that I was able to experience this with her.
