Whether you’re a part of the LGBTQ+ community or not, June marks a time of wondrous celebrations to recognize and honor the range of sexualities and gender identities that exist. Some of the most iconic celebrations of the community will be occurring very soon, such as the inaugural march and PrideFest, which will be held on June 30th. Juneteenth
June 19th is a very special day for the country, as it commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. In New York City, various events celebrate Juneteenth throughout the month. The Juneteenth in Queens event is where you can attend workshops, learn about black-owned businesses in the area, eat delicious food, and more! The New York Public Library also hosts free events that educate the public on Juneteenth, even recommending relevant books about the important holiday.
Macy’s 4th of July Celebration
There’s no better time to display your patriotism than on Independence Day. The Macy’s Fourth of July celebration, featuring spectacular fireworks and live performances, can quickly become a memorable night! Whether going alone or celebrating with a group, make this Independence Day one of the best you’ve ever had. This year, the fireworks will be taking place over the Hudson River, viewable between West 14th and West 34th streets, allowing ample opportunity to join the celebration.
Free Music Festivals
Who wouldn’t enjoy attending a totally free concert? This summer, you can attend several music festivals. This is the opportune time to discover new and upcoming artists or alternative ones you haven’t heard of before.
