Wait, Benefit Has a Foundation? And It Comes in 40 Shades?
As someone who’s made a career out of testing, swatching, and slathering every beauty product under the sun, I’d like to think there isn’t much that gets past me. So imagine my surprise, scratch that, shock, when I learned that Benefit Cosmetics just launched a new foundation… and it’s not their first one!
What? Are you serious? Benefit makes foundation? I’m so embarrassed to admit that I never knew that.
Like most beauty lovers, I’ve always associated Benefit with brows (arguably one of the best in the biz), cute packaging, beautiful blush, and their cult-favorite primer that put the world on to how to blur pores. And let me just say that I’ve used POREfessional primer more times than I can count, so in actuality, it makes perfect sense that a foundation would have also been a part of the product line. But somehow, I had never seen it, never swatched it, and never even heard anyone talk about it. And what’s crazy is that I used to be on their PR list, but they never sent me one.
It turns out that Benefit has technically been in the complexion game since 2011, starting with their Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! line. Just when you think you know somebody! So yeah, they have sold foundation before. However, this new launch feels different. It’s making a lot of noise around the beauty community.

They’re singing the praises of the formula that promises medium to full coverage, a natural matte finish, and longwear that works beautifully with their OG primer. But what caught my eye (and earned them some major respect) is the inclusive shade range.
Benefit’s The POREfessional Smoothing & Blurring Foundation comes in 40 shades with cool, neutral, and warm undertones. From what I’ve seen from reviewers, they are praising the balanced undertones, the shade range that includes tones that range from very fair to deep. The brand put thought into making sure that everyone felt represented in this launch.
As for performance, it is said to blur like a dream, feel lightweight on the skin, and deliver that highly sought-after “your skin but better” finish. Beauty creators describe the consistency as creamy and blendable, and the matte formula provides buildable coverage without looking too heavy.
My mind is still blown that I had no clue Benefit has been making foundation for over a decade. Their new POREfessional Smoothing & Blurring Foundation is what made me aware of my blindness. When I thought of the brand, my mind automatically went to brows, but clearly, there’s so much more.
