With the Lunar New Year coming soon, it’s time to celebrate with our favorite products, films, and music. And while it’s nice to return to all of our go-tos, sometimes it’s time to spice it up. Here are some Chinese actors and musicians that you need to check out, ASAP!
Stephanie Hsu
From her roles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Stephanie Hsu is no stranger to stardom. But her recent role in the Academy Award-winning film Everything Everywhere All At Once has shown that she is not to be messed with in the acting field. Her performance as the daughter of the main character, played by Michelle Yeoh, even earned her an Oscar nomination of her own. Be sure to check her out in her new film The Fall Guy, which will be out in Spring 2024.
Laufey
Laufey‘s success has skyrocketed in just a few years when one of her songs went viral in 2020. The Icelandic-Chinese singer now boasts over 2 million followers on Instagram and over 14 million listeners on Spotify. Laufey’s music is known for bringing a new feel to jazz music. Ben Wang
Recently starring in Disney Plus show American Born Chinese, Ben Wang kickstarted his career as the title character and acted alongside revered actors such as Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Daniel Liu. Playing the character Jin, Wang’s performance will surely launch the path to stardom, and we’ll surely see more of him in the future!
Anna Cathcart
Chinese-Canadian actress Anna Cathcart first appeared in the limelight when she portrayed Kitty Song-Covey in the 2018 film To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. She then reprised that role in the film’s two sequels. Earlier in 2023, she once again played Kitty in the trilogy’s spinoff television series as the title character in XO, Kitty.
Jackson Wang
Originally a member of the K-pop group Got7, Jackson Wang left entertainment company JYP Entertainment in 2021 and has been a solo artist since. The Hong Kong artist has released several singles that have earned him awards and have hit the Billboard 200 charts. He recently performed at Coachella where American artist Ciara was a guest.
