Chuks Collins debuted his Spring/Summer 2024 collection on Wednesday, September 13 at Spring Studios. Entitled “Marine Euphoria: A Harmonious Tribute to Ocean Splendor,” it celebrates sea corals and marine life under the Caribbean Sea.
The color palette for this collection included vibrant hues of fuschia, matcha green, tangerine, turquoise, and deep blue. According to a statement from Collins on his Instagram, these shades mirror “the enchanting coastal hues of the Caribbean Sea…inviting a connection to the captivating beauty of the natural world.”
Marine Euphoria also invites us to think about our own role in ocean sustainability, featuring a sweater with the phrase “Ocean Friendly” embroidered on the back. The fabrics used in this collection included regenerated nylon, thrift store upcycled denim and organic cotton. The free-flowing silhouettes and marine-inspired abstract hero pieces encourage us to connect with the natural world while celebrating individuality.
Accessories included striking sea coral earrings and iridescent pearl clutches; no detail was forgotten when it came to encapsulating a magical undersea realm.
The show’s afterparty was held in the VIP Lounge of the Waldorf Astoria, presenting guests with champagne, mocktails, caviar, and an assortment of meats and cheeses. Toasts were given by Collins himself and employees of Waldorf Astoria to celebrate the collection.
