CWILLI Shakes Up Chicago Fashion Week

On Saturday, October 10, experimental fashion brand CWILLI held its Fall/Winter 2026 runway show at St. Bonaventure Oratory. The former church now serves the Chicago art scene, hosting plays, concerts, and more. The show was a part of Chicago Fashion Week, which completed its third edition last week. It featured a wide array of independent runway shows, markets, and seminars held across the city.

The intimate show featured 15 looks and a sample sale where guests could try on and buy pieces they’d just seen on the runway, adding an extra layer of immersion and connection.

The collection, titled “Academy,” blended prep, grunge, and sportswear. Every look combined black, white, and gray hues and utilized stripes, polka dots, varsity tees, necktie motifs, and jersey fabric. Williford did not overlook pop-punk details like wild smoky eyes and ripped crew socks.

CWILLI, created by designer Chris Williford, sells clothes for “true originals,” blending pop-punk aesthetics, upcycled materials, and community involvement. CWILLI prints all pieces on demand, upcycles them, or makes them by hand. Williford grew up in Texas and found comfort in drawing and toy collecting, which led him to pursue graphic arts and printmaking. His fashion journey began after he moved to Chicago and discovered Belgian designer Martin Margiela.

The event donated a portion of its proceeds and sales to Howard Brown Health, a nonprofit LGBTQ+ healthcare and social services provider with seven health centers across Chicago.

Keep an eye on Chicago fashion, because more designers like Williford are shaking up the scene. Shop all of CWILLI’s clothing and accessories on the brand’s website.
