Indonesia Now Brings Global Culture to LFW

Indonesia Now brought global culture to London Fashion Week on September 18. Indonesia Now was created by Dina Fatimah in 2018 and focuses on bringing Indonesian fashion to runways all over the world to showcase the cultural and artistic beauty of the country. At this show, six Indonesian designers presented their collections, bringing rich culture to mainstream fashion. 

Buttonscarves

Buttonscarves is known for its monogram designs, and this collection is no different. However, the brand brings something new to this collection by playing with fabric techniques, lace detailing, and a vibrant color palette, while keeping their signature monograms front and center.

Nada Puspita x Khanaan

Nada Puspita and Khanaan presented their S/S 24 Take a Bow collection at London Fashion Week. The collection embodies spring with Nada Puspita’s floral patterns and watercolor style while incorporating Khanaan’s ikat motifs. The collection uses airy materials and sophisticated hues to represent the beauty of a confident woman.

Ayu Dyah Andari 

Ayu Dyah Andari specializes in ultra-feminine garments inspired by Victorian-era and vintage dress. Her S/S 24 collection entitled Rose and Beyond includes hand-embroidered accents, crystals, pearls, and earth tones. Five of the designs were made in collaboration with Putri Zulkifli Hasan, a female entrepreneur focusing on beauty and education. The collection constantly keeps femininity in mind, offering looks for the empowered feminine woman.

Benang Jarum

Benang Jarum presented their The Lustrous Whispers collection, inspired by Chinoiserie patterns. Chinoiserie became popular in the 18th century and consists of Chinese motifs and techniques recreated in a Western style. This is displayed in the collection through beadwork and opulent embellishments, as well as fabrics such as textiles, lace, and jacquards, creating an intelligent reflection of vintage elegance.

Kami.

Kami. is an Indonesian brand well-known for its comfortable and modest designs. Their Ovra Collection reflects the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship, incorporating rain lily floral patterns and core colors of red, yellow, and pink. Ovra represents hope, optimism, and rebirth, making it a perfect spring collection.

Ivan Gunawan Prive 

Ivan Gunawan is a prominent public figure known for his creativity, talent, and flamboyancy in fashion design. His new collection BABUSHKA reflects this with its emphasis on ornate patterns and luxurious materials. Spending his childhood in Moscow, Gunawan found inspiration in fashionable women, notably his Grandma. BABUSHKA is the perfect collection for stylish women with a taste for royalty.
