Color is no doubt an important aspect of a designer’s creative process when thinking of their next collection. It can shape the way a fabric looks on a model and how it compliments the wearer. And, of course, there will be colors that are the most popular in one season or another. This year’s New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024 is no exception.

Here are the top ten most popular colors that were seen on the New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024 runway.

Rooibos Tea

A dark red that is filled with rich, woodsy hints, rooibos tea is a muted red that adds just the right amount of bright color. This can be seen in Sergio Hudson‘s collection this season on this model paired with a flouncy skirt, belt, and sheer top.

Orangeade

A nice mix between red and orange, orangeade gives off citrus-y hues because of its similarities to tangerine shades. A great example of orangeade usage is this year’s Altuzarra collection. The orangeade hints add a pop of color to the muted colors underneath, making the whole look stand out.

Watercress

A light, muted green, this refreshing color is slightly darker than a minty hue. This color was heavily featured in Project Runway All-Stars winner Bishme Cromartie‘s collection. Several of his looks this season were full of watercress though with different shapes, sizes, and styles.

Desert Flower

Similar to a salmon or a coral, desert flower is a warm-toned pink with the promise of sunshine. Carolina Herrera‘s Spring/Summer 2024 collection showcased this color in a classy way, pairing this model with an elegant dress that adds a bit of sexiness with the lacy, sheer look.

Chambray Blue

A brightened blue that matches well with denim, chambray blue has hints of pastel hues and the sky. Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Who Decides War was a big proponent of this color with his many denim-colored looks this season. Models were seen strutting down the runway in full chambray blue outfits elegantly tailored to perfection.

Pastel Lilac

Pastel lilac’s name tells you exactly what it is. A light shade of lavender, pastel lilac is the perfect spring color. Fashion brand 3.1 Phillip Lim favored this color in their fashion week return this season, dressing the model in a full pastel lilac look and adding hints of silver to pull it all together.

Marlin

With hints of the deep sea, marlin conjures thoughts of the water and the ocean. This color was favored by Tory Burch on the runway, where she paired the color with the complementary color of yellow. Accessorized with colors that looked good together, Burch’s marlin look stood out on the runway.

Lemon Drop

This lemon-y hue is a bright colored yellow, perfect for the rays of sunshine that can be seen in spring and summer. Prabal Gurung paired this color well this season, matching a full lemon drop-colored dress with gold accessories, tying everything together with these similar shades.

Mint

Almost like a Kelly green, mint has subtle hints of blue in it. Its shade is, like its name, a breath of fresh air. Mint was featured on the Ralph Lauren runway, where a mint skirt was paired with a red patterned top, adding a pop of color on the bottom and pattern on the top.

Capri

A vibrant shade of bright blue and the perfect medium between light and dark shades, capri is a color reminiscent of the glimmering waters on a beach vacation. Used quite a bit in this season’s LaQuan Smith collection, the metallic shininess of this capri dress only adds to the resort vibe.
