Melke’s AW24 Fashion Presentation for NYFW

The latest colorful pieces formulating the Autumn/ Winter 2024 collection by Melke named The Heist were presented on February 11th at Gary’s Loft in Manhattan for New York Fashion Week. The brand was launched back in 2020 by designer Emma Gage. Her collections weave childhood playfulness throughout the pieces while keeping sustainability and eco-friendliness in mind.

Revealed in the presentation invitation, The Heist was inspired by Emma’s most adored childhood film personalities Wallace and Gromit, a pair who would undergo cheeky escapades but would eventually come back safely to their sanctuary. “From traveling to the moon for cheese, stealing a diamond, and fighting a gigantic wererabbit, it seems this duo has done it all. Yet at the end of the day, they always return to the comforts of home for a hot cup of tea and a delectable slice of cheese.” says the invite.

Navigating the fanciful penthouse floor was delightful as I came across each model wearing fun and humorous pieces. I couldn’t help but enjoy the cartoonish details such as huge bows and cheese embellishments that adorn each look. The clothes featured patterns like plaid, gingham, polka dot, and floral which incorporated unusual and clashing colors, composing a bold appearance.

Capturing the essence of lightheartedness and innocence, Melke continues providing daring pieces whose creation process aims to prevent harm to the natural world.

The fashion presentation credits multiple entities. Aveda products were used for the hair, Augment did makeup, and footwear was from Dr. Martens. Harney & Sons tea was offered at the presentation.
